My name is Mary Kathryn. I am not a professional and I must admit that there are many places on the Internet today with much sought after information regarding recent research and accomplishments. Yet, I have lived with Autism for twenty years as the Primary Caregiver and Legal Guardian of a beautiful little girl named Jenny. I have recorded events with her and maintained a twenty year log that I believe could be of use to those who are now faced with the unique issues and training required to help these wonderful people.
I would like to share with you what we have learned and accomplished. There is no obligation, and I have nothing to sell. I only offer to you, memories of what did and did not work in various circumstances and events during the past twenty years.
Professionals often admit that, although they can help and may have access to all the new information regarding the problems we encounter, it is actually those who live with the problem on a 24/7 basis, year after year, who can best know and understand the situations that arise. Each child is unique, and this applies to the autistic child in a very special way.
This is not a professional site. It is not where you go for medical advice. I am a Christian Counselor AND Like many of you, I am still dealing with autism on a daily basis. This is where you can go to share your secret frustrations, As well as your victories!
